I can provide a full service from the design
stage, to construction and installation of the
Design consultation.
The process begins with a consultation where we can discuss the project aims, functions and budget
Site meeting.
My designs are heavily influenced by landscape. Architectural or sculptural work must interact and compliment features in the architecture and the landscape surrounding it. My inspiration comes from the site, its history and from the fuction or purpose of the piece it’self.
This stage allows me to take detailed photagraphs measurements and sketches of the site and discuss the project in greater detail to provide me with a full project brief.
Design proposals.
I provide detailed drawings demonstrating my ideas, these can be overlaid onto photographs so you can see exactly what it will look like. I can also show machetes, (samples) where appropriate, giving you an idea of the detailing , texture and joins in the material.
When a design is established I produce a detailed workshop drawing with timescale and cost.
Construction.
All my work is manufactured in my workshop in hereford. Working with metal in a hot state, leaves marks and natural forms, clues to reveal the technique of it‘s making. Traditional techniques employed in a contemporary format make beautiful, honest features of rivets, wraps collars or other joining methods.
I can work in number of different materials in this way, iron, stainless steel, copper, brass and bronze.
All exterior peices are protected from the elements, mild steel is galvanized and painted in lusterous graphite with silvery and coppery tones, stainless steel is electroploished. Coppers and brasses can be patinated to bring out vivid colours.
Installation.
I provide a full site preparation and installation service on any terrain. This is followed by maintenance and refinishing when necessary. I plan for my work to be around long after I am gone!
